This article does some GC-MS work to find out what the volatile compounds (what you can smell) in Cocoa tea are, some of my favorite descriptions are sweet, cigarette-like and old paper like.

What’s so special about teas available in Iran? Well, apparently they have a tiny bit more copper and nickel. They also are not able to measure the low levels of toxic metals and conclude that tea is generally safe for consumption. It’s a good thing I waited for this paper to start drinking tea.
